SMOOTH MOVE! TWO SECRET INGREDIENTS FOR A HEALTHY GUT!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It goes without saying but what we eat and drink directly affects our bodies especially our bowels. If we are not hydrated or eat enough fiber in our daily diet you may find yourself bloated, gaseous, constipated, in a bad mood, and susceptible to disease.

In the gut microbiome, also known as “GOOD” bacteria do more than just help with digestions, they help keep your “BAD” bacteria in check.

I have two secret weapons to help keep my gut balanced. I put Flaxseeds and Coconut water twice a week in my daily smoothie to help improve digestive health. Flaxseeds may help with lowering your total blood cholesterol and (LDL) the bad cholesterol levels, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and may benefit people with diabetes! These teeny tiny seeds are rich in omega-3fatty acid and fiber which have been shown to have many potential health benefits.

Coconuts are high in fiber so it helps to bulk up your stool and supports bowel regularity by keeping your digestive system healthy.

The magnesium found in coconut water helps muscles in your digestive system, which helps relieve constipation. Coconut water helps the kidneys filter out toxins from the food and drinks you consume.

I also make it a point to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water every day! It is important to remain hydrated. Drinking enough water every day is important. It helps to regulate the body’s temperature, keep joints lubricated, helps to prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep major organs functioning properly.  Staying hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. 🙂

I use flaxseed in smoothies, juices, sprinkled over oatmeal and cereals, salads, and baking.
