Dropped your Mobile Phone or iPod in Water?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Because I’m always in the kitchen cooking, washing and rinsing dishes, I can’t tell you how many times I spilled or splashed water into my iphone! Grrrrrr!

Such accidents are not very uncommon. People have dropped iphones in the toilet. How about going for a  swim while the iPod was still in your pocket?  How many of you spilled a drink over your iPod or iphone?
What is the next step that you would take if your expensive mobile phone or iPod gets wet in the rain or your drop it in a wash basin?
Did you know that a  warranty for most electronics, including cell phones, does not cover water damage!!!!
The answer to revive your wet gadgets is only a few steps to your kitchen. Rice, plain ol dry white rice!
Think before pitching rice if it’s been sitting in your cupboard for a few months. It can be used to dry electronics if you ever get them wet—just cover the device in a bowl of the dry grains for 24 hours.
You should power off your device if its not already down and cover the iPod or iphone in a bowl of dry rice, it will absorb the excess moister. You should let it dry for 24 hours and do not try to charge the device while it’s going through this phase.

This home-remedy will save you money and worth giving it a try before you rush to the Apple store for a replacement.
