BLUEBERRY/BANANA/KIWI SMOOTHIE

MAKES 2 CUPS

You know I always shout from the rooftops that, “BLUEBERRIES” are considered a SUPERFOOD! They are packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals. Free radicals are highly unstable molecules that your body naturally forms when your body converts foods you have eaten into energy. Free radicals form also from a variety of environmental sources, such as air pollution, cigarettes, and pesticides in your food. They cause oxidative stress which will trigger cell damage. It leads to a variety of diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, cancers, heart disease, and diabetes!  Blueberries are believed to have the highest antioxidant levels of all common fruits and veggies! BANANAS

I always add a banana to my smoothies. I suffer from leg cramps due to the medication I take for my Multiple Myeloma. They have large amounts of potassium which helps prevent muscle cramps. Potassium in bananas gives you energy, contains Vitamin C, and is good for your heart health and blood pressure. They can also help aid in digestion and gastrointestinal issues. Plus I love the smooth creamy consistency it gives the smoothie

PINEAPPLE 

Sweet fresh pineapple contains Disease fighting antioxidants and vitamin  A, B6, E, AND K. It also contains Calcium, Folate, Iron Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

 

1/2 cup of fresh chopped pineapple

GREEK YOGURT

Greek Yogurt is a natural source of protein and is a probiotic for your gut health and contains B vitamins for energy. Your overall health begins in the gut!

CASHEW MILK

Cashew milk contains healthy fats, If good for Eye Health, may improve Blood sugar control is good for your skin Boosts immune health, and contains a variety of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin D, B-vitamins, zinc, magnesium, copper calcium potassium

The milk is high in B-vitamins. It is also rich in vitamin D and monounsaturated fatty acids. The milk also contains important minerals like zinc, magnesium, copper, calcium, potassium, and zinc, and protein

KIWI

Kiwi fruit is not often considered a “superfood”, but in fact, it’s a fruit that is full of important vitamins and minerals and can have a very positive effect on your health. These brown fuzzy fruits have a sweet and slightly tangy taste with green flesh on the inside that lends a unique flavor and tropical zing. Kiwi boasts a whole range of nutrients such as fiber, vitamin C,  E, and K, folate, copper, potassium, magnesium antioxidants, vitamin E, K, B6, and B12.

PURE COCONUT WATER

Coconut water has many health benefits and is a natural sports drink and has natural electrolytes. It is low in calories, contains potassium, calcium, and magnesium, antioxidants, amino acids.

RECIPE FOR BLUEBERRY/BANANA/KIWI SMOOTHIE!

Makes 2 cups

1 cup of fresh Blueberries

1 small banana

1/2 cup of fresh chopped pineapple

1 Kiwi peeled

1/4 cup Greek Yogurt

1 cup cashew milk

1/3 cup of Coconut water

1 scoop (1 tablespoon) of Monat Total Greens or Protein powder 1 scoop

8 ice cubes

Place all of the ingredients into a blender and process for 1 full minute to get it smooth and creamy!

Pour into glasses and if you are going to use it as a snack add 2 heaping teaspoons of your favorite, “FLOURISH GRANOLA”, on the side!
